The term peer pressure usually conjures an image of a bully teasing someone until they do something, they know is wrong, but positive peer pressure can also be an effective weapon is the arsenal of drug prevention programmes. Every teacher knows that the natural leaders in a classroom, sport or club can make or break the activity, and for those that don’t trust their own instincts or experience, there is a plethora of research that shows that peer pressure can positively or negatively impact teenagers’ behaviour.
