Music therapy - engaging people in collaborative music-making of various kinds with a view to sustaining and improving their mental health – can aid meaningful communication, facilitate expression, reduce isolation, encourage social interaction and offer altered aesthetic experiences of self and of self in relation to others. This session will include accounts of practice and evidence of usefulness, and will be illustrated using recorded extracts of music therapy work.
