Dr Tim Leighton

Director of Professional Education & Research, Action On Addiction

Tim is Director of Professional Education and Research at Action on Addiction, and has worked in the addiction field for over 30 years, as counsellor, counselling trainer, clinical supervisor, treatment programmeme developer, educator and researcher. He is a UKCP accredited Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapist. He has contributed to many academic conferences, published a range of book chapters and articles, and sat on a range of expert advisory committees, including for NICE, ACMD and UKDPC. His doctoral research was on mechanisms of change in drug and alcohol rehab, and he is committed to the continuing improvement of treatment programmemes and to developing integration between treatment and communities of recovery.
