Dr James Stallard

Consultant Psychiatrist, Dorset Healthcare NHS Trust

Dr Stallard has a specialist interest in the interface between physical and psychological illness, management of mood disorders and anxiety and the Psychological effects of trauma

Dr Stallard graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1993. He trained in psychiatry in the West London Psychiatric Training Scheme, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1998. He completed his MSc in Psychiatry and Psychiatric Research in 1999

His first post as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS was with the West End Community Mental Health Team in Central London. In 2005 he moved to Dorset where he has worked as a Liaison Psychiatrist in the NHS, setting up and running a Liaison Psychiatry Service at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The service has been rated as ‘excellent’ by the Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network and has attracted funding from the acute trust.

Dr Stallard runs a private practice alongside his NHS work, in Salisbury and Southampton.
