Anna Maria graduated from the Universitá Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan with a degree in Arts and Literature. She then furthered her studies with a degree in Psychology from the Pontificia Universitá Salesiana in Rome.
She later attended a specialization course in clinical psychology and underwent intense training in substance psychotropic, process addiction and behavioral dependency.
From 1997 to date, she has been working as a psychologist at the Villa Maraini Foundation with drug users and their families conducting rehabilitation therapy and psycho-educational groups.
She is head of the Training and Development Centre and has organized courses on drug addiction, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Anna Maria is also responsible for organizing family therapy groups.
From 2005 to date, she has been an International Red Cross Delegate and has coordinated several international Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies projects on addiction, humanitarian approach to the drug users, Harm-Reduction and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in Eastern Europe, South America and Asia.
